I'm kind of over this era where we expect politicians to be super entertaining and charismatic, though. They don't have to make us laugh on Twitter, they just have to be competent and knowledgeable with good policies.

I mean honestly the reason charisma matters so much more now is because a lot of voters have given up on the idea that either party will make their life better, so they may as well feel better that their team won and be entertained by the process. For democrats a complete loss of the supreme court has kneecapped any ability to make any lasting positive changes so might as well just enjoy the show as much as you can lol.

You're 100% correct, however this does remind me of the time my uncle met Obama when he came through town (he was heading up local security) and my uncle, being the person that he is, was like, "Hey man, wanna grab a beer?" Lmao.

i actually love him - i think he's SUPER knowledgable, empathetic and has actual plans.

the moment I noticed him was a few years ago when someone asked him a question about black women mortality during childbirth and he immediately started speaking about it with actual stats and information and empathy- sadly was jarring simply because it was coming from a white male but i was impressed.

This is interesting - I’m not American so I don’t know huge amounts about him, but when I heard him in podcast interviews and whatnot during the primary race he did seem really switched on and thoughtful, but ONTD hated him. I couldn’t work out why but I assumed there was stuff about him I just wasn’t hearing.

RIGHT? I started reading about him a couple of years ago and watched videos of him rallying and was like "huh, he sounds a lot like this X politician from my country that I really like and have voted for. Hope Texan Dems and/or left-leaning people don't chicken out and actually do vote for him". Then ONTD and Twitter's image of him is that he's kind of an white savior-ish asshole? I don't get it lol.
