The Great Tumblr Implosion was truly the first time I discovered most people were using it for porn rather than incredibly niche and embarrassing fandoms.

Well, and extremely toxic thinspo.

Yeah, a lot of the same "have you tried chewing ice?" type stuff.

People are getting more sly about it, though. Tumblr was very straight up with the "i want to look fragile" thing and now it's a lot of "that girl/clean girl" stuff.

While exploring still active comms on LJ besides ONTD, it looked like ed communities represented a good portion of them.

I mean its both. fandoms where people post art and gifs of their blorbos f**king

Once they couldn't do that they left tumblr.

Like januarysix said, I think what killed tumblr was how much of fandom used it for art that included nude/pornographic art and/or photosets. Maybe a fandom is only 20% erotic art or some popular celebrity fandom only includes a couple of photos of their naked ass - it’s still gonna chase a bunch of the fandom away when that is banned, if only for the annoyance of suddenly disappearing content and censorship complaints.

The ban was poorly executed, so many artists I know were randomly docked for nudity when they didn't have any and then when that came out artists were leaving left and right

I never used it for porn but I think the exodus was a kind of domino effect. A lot of people I followed stopped posting as much because even their SFW content was getting flagged left and right, and I'm sure the same was true for people they followed.

Once my dashboard finally slowed to a crawl I just stopped coming back.
