I rewatched the first movie recently, and it kinda worked because it was a little camp? The story for the rest of the films are just unwatchable to me.

And of course Henry says it’d be cool, regardless of what you think of him RPattz has carved out an enviable career.

Robert's career is unequivocally better than Henry's.

I had a similar reaction. I actually like the first one and the blue hue. But I turned off New Moon after maybe like 10-15 minutes which I never do.

One day I'll watch it all the way through.

Isn't RPatz able to carve out that career in part also because he can...act? Lol like twilight got him notice for sure but he has the acting chops too. Henry on the other hand...

Yeah, he could have continued to do teen heartthrob roles but purposely sought out offbeat films that showed he could act. None of those productions would even care that he was ~Edward Cullen~ because that audience is not overlapping with (for instance) a Safdie Brothers film.

That's fair. I care for neither so I have no dog in this race.

I think it's also a personality thing - Rob was so gleefully like "yeah this thing is ridiculous," while at the same time managing to avoid shitting on people who actually enjoyed it. That's a hard balancing act, but he managed to make it endearing and funny and it bought him good will.

I feel like most actors, including Henry, would have been doing their best to do the PR thing and stay complimentary and it'd have just made him look overly serious and like he didn't realise it was crap. or like an ass later when they turned around and started trying to distance themselves

I'd say Robert has the type of career he has despite twilight, not because of it. Cavill couldve been the most successful Edward ever and he still wouldve never starred in cosmopolis, or knocked us out in a safdi production, that's just Robert. Cavill wouldve gone the route taylor lautner did.

I love the first one and it’s the only one directed by Catherine Hardwick

the first movie is a classic tbh. it's bad, but enjoyable.

The story is ass, but I just focused on some of the characters I liked, such as Aro or Garrett (in book 4) and that made it bearable.

I will never forgive Stephenie Meyer tho for not giving us JacobxLeah and instead opting for the pedo route 🤮
