October 28, 2022 Leni Klum, daughter of Heidi Klum and Seal, sat down with PEOPLE magazine for an exclusive interview and was asked how she felt about the “nepo baby” - and while Leni acknowledged she “got a lift into” the industry, she said she’s got her own work ethic to back up her success thus far.
Klum, who at 18 years old has already landed beauty deals with Dior and GHD and scored her first big fashion-industry job at 16, covering Vogue Germany with Heidi, told PEOPLE during her exclusive profile, “I am doing the work and putting in the time. Now I’m working on my own, traveling alone, going to school. My mom and I just have the same love for the same thing.”
Klum is also a normal college student studying interior design and jetting off to Milan Fashion Week.
"She has a roommate. They meal prep together. She walks to class, usually dressed in her boyfriend's sweats or jeans. She stops at bodegas for coffee on the way.
"On a warm fall day in New York City, Leni steps out - dressed in a Brunello Cucinelli suit, Michael Kors pumps and a rare mini Hermés Quelle Idole Kelly Doll bag gifted to her by dad Seal ("He gave one to me and my sister - apparently there was only a few ever made")..." went on to tell PEOPLE what it was like breaking down stereotypes in the modeling industry as a 5'4" model who struggled with acne as a teenager.
"A lot of people have acne that make it seem like they don't and then people see that on social media and they're like, "None of these gorgeous girls have acne." But some do and I don't think that's a bad thing."
She explained she's glad the industry is becoming more inclusive as what you look like shouldn't determine whether you can be a model.
"If you have a passion to do something, you should go for it. I'm 5-ft.-4-in., and I have a passion for modeling. Just like someone who is six foot who has a passion for modeling, we should both be able to follow our passion and do what we love, so I'm really glad that everything's changing."
