Tbh, I think it's way better for a dog to be rehomed than to stay in a place with owners who are unable or unwilling to meet their needs. So like, idk. I'd rather not shame someone for making a decision that is ultimately for the best for the animal.

You are right because she could have dumped him in a dump like others or harmed the animal.

I just wish people would fucking think before getting animals and kids. They aren't your accessory and they have their own opinions and thoughts and you trying to make them fit into your aesthetic is just gross.

yeah, i genuinely believe rehoming scenarios cannot be judged equally but SO MANY cases of rehoming all boil down to people simply being idiots and adopting on the spur of the moment. I can't help but feel like we should be harsh so maybe folks will be smarter before getting an animal. people (on social media, mostly) really need to stop acting like 'get a dog/cat' is really just a matter of waking up and deciding you want one. Those are lives you'll need to be responsible for so you better take it seriously.

The current “trend” is people adopting axolotls (spelling?) because their kids saw it in Minecraft and they’re being dumped to shelters because no one knows how to care for them. 😢

I know someone who has rehomed several animals for various reasons that all boiled down to “I just don’t have the time/energy for a pet anymore, so I’ll get rid of it, and then get a new one when I do again.” 🙄

I've been on both sides of the issue. I have two dogs now that absolutely LOVE kids, want to be around my kids 100% of the time, as well as cats that we foster. But I also had to put my grumpy old schnauzer mutt down earlier this year because he turned from grumpy to dangerous and was not rehomeable. (The vet suspected a brain tumor.)

This exactly. It’s one thing if she went out immediately after this and got another dog but that’s not what happened.

Agreed. Part of being a good pet owner and realizing when its not a great fit and that an animal you love might be happier somewhere else.
Sounds like she did the exact right thing for the pup

yeah, i’m tired of people pulling out their pitchforks at the mention of rehoming when the alternative is a stressful home life where the animal is neglected. animals deserve better than that. we should encourage people to let the animals go to a calm home that will worship them instead of guilting them into keeping them.

But like, this should’ve been obvious before getting a dog if she had just thought about it for a second. Dogs like routine, they like their own neighborhood, and for the most part don’t like little kids harassing them all day, like a toddler would be prone to do.

There’s a reason the dog walker has such a good bond with the dog.

I especially can’t fault her here because she worked with the agency she adopted him from during the rehoming process. It’d be a lot different if she put the dog on Craigslist and sold it to a complete rando. I get that we all love to hate people now but this is a bit much.
