1) This is probably why she's divorcing him, 2) He's made more money than any person deployed will ever make (and so many people who join the military do so because they have been preyed upon and made promises that will never follow through). He can retire.

Lol my husband got a letter from the VA once that broke down his yearly salary from his time in the military. The most he ever made was 15 k/year which included a premium for being deployed!

Most of the time it just seems like it because a lot of people, especially when deployed, don't have to worry about paying for housing or food and etc.

The big decrease in pay from being stationed overseas to the U.S. made my heart stop. If you're in the lower ranks and single without kids, the pay is AWFUL.

Then there's the cost of childcare if you're a single parent.

Yeah, and even if you have a spouse, the spouse can have a hard time finding work depending on where you are. I know everyone makes fun of military spouses for joining MLMs and shit but I've been in that position where you can't find work and I can see the allure if you don't know any better.
