Um. Why? The premise of the story makes me cringe.

I was going to say it comes across as a bit racist? Like oh, the Filipina maid uses "folk healing" on her and of course that reveals the demon in her that Western medicine couldn't find.

I don't trust white people creating these sort of characters for POC.

That's exactly the vibe I'm getting. I hope for its sake this movie is more clever than that.

Yeah MTE. I'm sure they're going to promote this as some kind of 'social commentary' thing, 'the audience has that stereotype and we ~challenged~ it', blah blah blah.

Right? Sounds like the ole magical-healing-poc trope 🙄

It also comes across as "look at this Filipina woman practising her spooky 'voodoo' on this white woman!"

A "magical healing/cursing POC" trope

It does that but also make people who actually have invisible diseases are liars. Like nope, you’re not sick. You just have a demon inside of you.

Yeah, a lot of people with auto immunes often times go years without a proper diagnosis by a doctor because people don’t believe them. This I feel like almost is making that the case with her character looking like she’s sick but not actually might be. Idk, I just don’t feel right with it.

I thought it was just a supernatural horror, where she’s possessed or cursed or something like that. Idk I can’t watch the trailer.
