An enslaved man (Will Smith, National Hero) embarks on a perilous journey to reunite with his family in this powerful film inspired by a true story.

With Apple's other awards bait offerings falling short, they've decided to push their support behind this film, which was once thought to be delayed for reasons you at home can probably guess.

“Emancipation” premieres in theaters on Dec. 2 and will stream on Apple TV+ starting Dec. 9.
