This was originally supposed to star Harry Styles and Anya Taylor-Joy and I've never seen such an epic upgrade AND downgrade in recasting.

Harry Styles? First time I've heard that. Eggers wanted Robert Pattinson for the role but he turned it down, saying the script wasn't "weird enough."

Eggers went home, talked to his brother about it and they began writing The Lighthouse the next day for him. They talked about this at Cannes when The Lighthouse premiered.

Yeah, it's misleading. Turns out Styles wasn't going to play Nosferatu, he was going to play Harker, a supporting character. So Skarsgard isn't replacing him.
