also, i had the most incredible time at the ethel cain show! she has this indefinable quality that is absolutely captivating, and the way that voice just comes out of her is insane.

I knew you'd have a great time. I agree about her voice. It never faltered. When I saw her in Dallas, she was playing on the upper level of a smaller venue. The stage was just her and the band and some string lights, but that's all that was needed. It was lovely.

For me, moody is like Sisters of Mercy, Tempers, Traitrs, Sextile, Ritual Howls, Public Memory, NNHMN, Boy Harsher, Lebanon Hanover, Clan of Xymox...etc.

yeah, it was a very simple set for me too but it was perfect. the only letdown for me was that she didn't perform "western nights," which is my favorite track on preacher's daughter.

thanks for the recs, i'll def check them out! and omg i didn't know any of that music survived, let alone was on spotify. she seems to have successfully scrubbed a whole album from the internet.

She didn't play it in Dallas either. From what I've seen on her sub-Reddit, it's a fan favorite, so I wonder why she left it off. I did leave prior to the encore, though, so maybe she played it then?

Hopefully she'll reconsider her stance on her older works. I always find it interesting to see an artist's evolution over time.

Right? I liked TBHC and the vibe it had, but the singles I've heard thus far are even more slow and kind of boring? Not being mean to them, but IDK.
