There is sooo much money being spent on far, far more useless shit, never mind money being just plain wasted by governments and disappearing into peoples pockets via corruption etc.
I think there are immense benefits of space exploration beyond just finding another place to live. This, for instance, was to make our place on Earth more secure

it's not a waste of money and resources. space exploration has lead to many helpful developments for the general public. throwing more money at our problems on earth is not going to help when people lack the will. for example, famine and hunger are distinctly human made problems. we have enough money to eradicate hunger. we do not have the right people to make sure it happens.

You're deflecting. We have enough money and resources in this time to get rid of hunger and famine. We do not have the right people.

this is so dumb. you know space exploration has led to the invention of countless medical advancements like artificial limbs, surgery equipment, ct scans etc right? at least 80% of tech from your microwave to your laptop to your memory foam mattress came from research and development that started from a space program

It's not a zero-sum game. Advances in all of these things are beneficial, what we are truly lacking is the will/funding to get them to all the people who need them. That should come from the places that don't provide net benefits to society already, like the military.
