It's not really a good/bad thing.
The long and short of it, they're a bunch of uber rich kids who live life in that horribly materialistic way everyone says they don't really want, but they all secretly do.

Kinda like The OC, except muuuch more money.
And not as many OD's by Mischa Barton.
