I know celebrities have all the money, but as someone who lives a 10 minutes walk by an actual sea, I could never see myself spending my holidays at a sea location. So many people I know think I'm weird for that, but to me is just a waste of money to go somewhere for 2 weeks, spending my days getting tanned and splashing in salt water* when I can do that for free at home.
*adult me hates the beach, but kid me loved it but i still remember having the same thoughts when I was 9 and my parents had us go on a 7 hrs drive + ferry trip only to stay in a place, where I was doing the same thing I was doing at home anyway.
Haha, that's basically what I do on vacation (at least some significant portion). Water and sun are like tonic for my soul~*~*~. I didn't grow up next to water though.
The only thing I enjoy about going to the beach is jogging on it as the sun rises and then not feeling guilty for eating delicious seafood the rest of the day.
I would go to a beach for every vacation if it was an option. in fact we do, for a lot of them. I mean, if I could travel internationally more often maybe not (although, yeah, probably) but in the US? take me to the beach.
Outside of day trips when I was a kid to the WA or OR coast, the only time I’ve gone somewhere for a beach was a state park vacation and that was because my dog had never experienced sand and I knew she’d love it.
