The New York Times speaks to Jennette McCurdy and some of her friends/colleagues about her new upcoming memoir titled "I'm Glad My Mom Died" which will be available for purchase on August 9th.

- Jennette says her whole childhood was exploited.

- Her mom's parents discouraged her to be an actress so obviously, she encouraged Jennette to act.
- She declined $300k from Nickelodeon to be quiet about what had happened on set of Sam & Cat years ago.

- In the book, Jennette published an email her mom sent her that calls her a "slut", "floozy", "ugly monster" then asks her for money to buy the family a new refridgerator.
- Mentions how at a fitting at Nickelodeon, they had taken photos of her in a bikini and that a person she has not named but called the "Creator" would pressure her to drink. Her mom was present for these encounters...
- Nick and Jennette signed a deal to create her own show. They attached Ariana Grande's name to it. Jennette couldn't pursue other projects when she was on Sam & Cat and while Ariana could. Her tipping point was when Ariana came onto set and was talking about having played charades at Tom Hanks house last evening.
- David Archuleta, Miranda Cosgrove, and one of Jennette's siblings all speak to the times in support of Jennette. Recounting and acknowledging Jennette's mother's behavior.
- Marcus said that their mother was consistently volatile that they'd wonder if she was gonna be a good mom today or a bad mom today. He also said their grandmother was very upset by the title.

- David mentions that it's easy to assume that they were just really close but in hindsight, it was clear her mom would make the decisions.
- Miranda said that even though they were very close friends, she was oblivious to it until Jennette brought it up when they had gotten older.
- Says that her decision to stop acting was because she wanted control of her life but after starring in her one woman show which shares the title of her book "I'm Glad My Mom Died", she felt that she can still have a positive experience performing.
