as someone who's seen most of marilyn's movies, i have to completely disagree about how she sounds lol

Marilyn was American. Imagine Daniel Day Lewis playing Abraham Lincoln or David Oyelowo playing MLK with their British accents. I get people will say this movie is all about "mythology" and not really "real" and fictionalized but come on.

in any case, the people who cast her made a mistake. If Ana can't switch up her accent for this role that's completely fine and I don't expect her to have that skill (it is a skill), but it also means she's not a good fit for the role.

The movie is based on a batshit insane book so Idk why people are acting like it's somehow meant to be accurate. The accent, if anything, adds charm to it. People can seethe all they want, but she sounds great.
