I’ve always had a soft spot for Kaya maybe because of this character (Effy Stonem was IT! to my lil awkward ass), I even loved her in the Skins Fire episode and have seen some terrible movies she was in

The millennial experience is how we all wanted to be Effy so bad

In before someone says not me you know what I mean!! She was pretty and cool!

Millenials who were teenagers maybe, but a lot of us where in our 20s when the show came out, I definitely didn't want to be Effy. lol

It's not that I didn't like Effy or anything like that. She just wasn't the one I related to.

I liked Cassie. Because she's really whimsical. She's blonde. She looks angelic. And I could relate to her backstory. I don't look anything like Effy or Cassie. I'm a plus-sized black woman. But I could really relate to them both because of our similar backgrounds. So, I was surprised when I was reading about the US Version of Skins and saw that the character that was cast as the Cassie character was black.

So, especially in terms of representation, I think it's important to show all sides of diversity. Not just brownie points for casting a Black person. An Asian person. A Hispanic, and all the multitude of diversity. Nah son, you don't get points for doing the absolute bare minimum by casting a Black woman in the role so you can get the 2-for-1 special. That's not what diversity means to me.
