i need subtitles too it lets me watch things faster. i don't like second guessing what ppl said and sometimes i don't understand english accents

I watch with subtitles too. I tend to be a passive watcher and subs help to catch me up with what's going on.

My brain thinks and wanders a lot even when I watch shows. A few times I have to put on subtitles and rewind scenes for my brain to process what people say.

My brain is bad at deciphering spoken words when people speak fast, but it reacts too quickly to unfinished sentences. I have to write notes to myself to "slow down my mind and listen", and be an active listener.

This is why I don't like talking on the phone for work. People who speaks fast, please learn to speak slower for other people.

Everything but comedy. I grew up reading subtitled anime (lol). So I usually finish reading the punchlines before they even come close to being said.

My brain doesn’t process well it seems so subtitles are always on. I can’t really watch movies with my family because I can’t hear well. In the actual theater it’s better since it’s so loud.

There are so many big budget moves that have HORRIBLE sound mixing. The dialogue is practically whispered while the music is so booming that it completely takes over anything you see onscreen. I'm not having a good time if I have to expend extra energy trying to understand what someone is mumbling.

One thing I miss most about watching movies in Hong Kong movie theaters is the dual language subs. You have Chinese on top and English right under it; it's great for improving both language skills at the same time, lol. Honestly, Quebec would have a better chance improving people's French by doing this; their language police is a money laundering joke.
