Kate McKinnon thought about leaving
#SNL for "a very long time" and finally exited because her "body was tired."

July 21, 2022 • McKinnon announced her departure from the show a few days before the season 47 finale aired in May. She joined the cast at the tail end of season 37 replacing featured player Paul Brittain and was seen as a replacement for Kristen Wiig. She made her debut on April 7, 2012 during the Sofia Vergara hosted episode. McKinnon has won two Emmys for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy for her work on the show, and is nominated again this year.
• In a recent appearance on Live with Kelly and Ryan McKinnon says that being on SNL was the only thing she ever wanted to do in her life and said it was "the best decade." She says that she decided to leave because, "my body was tired, and I felt like it was time.”
• She says that she doesn't know if she can watch the show when it returns in the fall. "I don't know that I can watch the show yet because it's too emo because I miss everyone so much. It's my family."
• McKinnon provided a voiceover for the film DC League of Super-Pets which is set to be released next week, and has also been cast in Greta Gerwig's Barbie movie.
