Taylor Kitsch For Esquire - Wild & Free

Jul 06, 2022 13:56

For two decades, #TaylorKitsch has chugged along in the Hollywood game by flat out refusing to play it. He was busy searching for something else. @tweetsinvain writes: https://t.co/ly2B9OF0PV

They need to stop. This man hasn't refused to play the Hollywood game. Hollywood kept trying to make him happen and audiences rejected him.

It was one flop right after another. Pretty remarkable to watch.

Isn’t there room for an occasional supporting role though? I mean that’s where he’s at…I don’t think Hollywood is still trying to make him happen, he’s just working.

"Hollywood kept trying to make him happen and audiences rejected him"

I feel like that's Charlie Hunnam too

Sons Of Anarchy was a huge long running hit. I don’t think he’s worried about becoming a big star and just does gigs he likes. He strikes me as someone who has always been more about the craft and less about the fame. He dropped out of 50 Shades because it would’ve been too much.

I can see that. I've been a huge fan of his since SoA which is why I was so excited for him when he did King Arthur and The Gentleman (both of which I enjoyed for what they were)

I still rewatch King Arthur regularly lol. Idc I love the music and the vibe. I thought The Gentlemen was good except for the casual racism and attempted rape. The movie would not have suffered without them.

Oh 100% agree. Those parts of The Gentleman were disgusting but not surprising considering it was Guy Ritchie.

I actually went on Netflix yesterday to watch King Arthur and was disappointed to see it left

I think he's a decent actor and they pushed him too hard to be an action star, after one flop or so they should've had him do more low key, indie stuff. But I guess maybe that isn't what he wanted for himself.

he has done low key indie stuff!

idk man, I've really enjoyed his action flicks. Have watched John Carter 3x at least, and Battleship 2x. Good films.

I don't get why hedoesnt get more love

Idk some people get into acting to be super famous and some people just like the work.

And I think that's him. He wasn't going to say no when Disney put John Carter in front of him when all he'd really done at that point was FNL. He had some really bad luck when all three of those projects underperformed back to back. But I think the John Carter criticism was unwarranted.

He doesn't work a ton and I don't think it's because he's not getting offers, he's just picky. He works once or twice every few years and then just otherwise lives life quietly.
