And with the shooting in Oslo I'm actually worried it's only a matter of time before another nutter comes for us. I can't kiss any guy now in public and am scared of holding hands. Masks were a godsend because I feel I got some protection.

I think conservatism has outsized power, but by the numbers conservative values are not the most popular. Most progressive policy polls better across the board; even among Republicans, Independents, and non-voters. The problem is that small states with smaller, more conservative constituencies are given equal footing with more progressive states that have 50+ times their population. Wyoming has like 600k people in it and California has 40mil, but they both get two senators.

For as bad as it is right now, it's important to remember that it's not because we're outnumbered - it's because we're stuck in a system that was never built for us. It was built by slave owners to appease other slave owners. The balances in place were put there in part by people who wanted to make sure that human beings they deemed lesser could never gain political power.
