We watched The Amazing Spider-Man for the first time last night (it's on Netflix). I saw the second one in theaters because my little sister was obsessed and she was visiting me in LA when it came out, but I hadn't ever seen the first one.
I don't know if it's my general enthusiasm for Andrew Garfield, or the low expectations everyone set for this film by trashing it, or maybe both, but I liked it fine! Certainly more than the 2002 film, which I have never liked, and probably as much as the first Tom Holland one. The script isn't great, and I don't like Rhys Ifans for some reason, but I love Martin Sheen and Sally Field as Ben and May, and Andrew and Emma have great chemistry. Everyone is obviously too old for high school, but that was the case with the first set of movies, too. Annoyed the second one is not streaming anywhere.
