Maddie Ziegler, 19, the breakout star of the reality show Dance Moms, appears on this month's cover of Cosmopolitan magazine. In her interview, she says that Dance Moms was a "toxic environment" and that she wanted to leave, but could not because of her contract. Ziegler also says that she is no longer in contact with Abby Lee Miller, her former dance teacher who starred on the show.
Miller, 56, is furious. In a rant posted to her YouTube channel, she takes credit for Ziegler's success and blames then-teen Ziegler for not leaving the show sooner, claiming that it was the parents, not the children, who had signed the contracts. She also places the blame on Maddie's perfectionist nature and eagerness to dance.
"The whole world knows her name. From my studio. The ALDC. As well as a little TV show called Dance Moms."
Who would have thought that a reality show in which adults pit young children against each other would turn out to be toxic???
