The Scream fandom has gone wild since beloved Scream Queen Neve Campbell announced to fans that she is departing the horror franchise during her appearance at the horror convention, Monsterpalooza in Pasadena. As a matter of fact, ONTD announced it ahead of major media outlets.
Despite being released in January, the latest Scream sequel was a smash hit. Many fans automatically assumed Neve would be back to star as horror royalty Sidney Prescott in the next film. However, negotiations behind the scenes caused Neve to decide not to return. It should be noted that Campbell signed up for new representation, management and new attorneys back in February.
An official statement from Neve Campbell reads, “Sadly I won’t be making the next Scream film. As
a woman, I have had to work extremely hard in my career to establish my value, especially when it comes to Scream. I felt the offer that was presented to me did not equate to the value I have brought to the franchise.”
The fandom is torn! One side supports the Horror icon's decision, even
petitioning for the star to receive the proper payment. The other half disagrees with her, some even calling her greedy. Whatever the opinion, three of Campbell's co-stars from the original Scream have spoken out in support!
David Arquette posted to his Instagram story, "Let me be clear, I support Neve Campbell and think it's a huge mistake not to have her in the new Scream."
This past year, both Matthew Lillard and Jamie Kennedy have been going on a reunion convention tour with Neve Campbell, along with Skeet Ulrich. Kennedy took to his Youtube channel, he claims that Neve had a hearty role in Scream 6, but 'new' people behind-the-scenes are being tight with money.

Lillard also showed his support for Campbell in a podcast interview, saying she is the Tom Cruise of Horror films and deserves her requested salary:

June 8, 2022 Scream 6 was set to film on June 6 in Montreal, Québec, but was delayed until June 9. Many fans theorized the sequel would be set at University (ala Scream 2), however the setting of the film is in New York City. Courteney Cox is returning as Gale Weathers, whose talk-show is based in New York City.

June 11, 2022 I met Neve Campbell last month at Texas Frightmare Weekend. She was gracious, kind and caring. I waited in three hours to meet her and was coming up with so many things to talk to her about in those few hours. I didn't want to ask her about Scream 6 or anything other people probably asked her numerous of times. However, when it was my turn, I was speechless and blurted out, "I can't wait to see you in Scream 6," to which she replied, sucking in her teeth, "Well... we'll see, we'll see." I was probably too much in awe, but I absolutely thought nothing of her reaction.
