They are awful but I like how the show doesn't try to excuse their behaviour and exposes what probably happens in real life in the corporate world / show business

That’s true and a good point! I always thought Butcher was meant to be an anti-hero, a man with many faults and shortcomings who is also on the ‘good’ side.

what i love is that, i feel like he never claims to be a good man. he emphasises very often that he's literally not a good guy, but he'll do what's necessary to stop those supes. we're not seeing him agonising about the hard decisions he has to make etc, it's like "well, who gives a fuck, this needs to be done so we'll do it". i find that fascinating.

he's just like homelander, they both have one goal in mind, and they don't see people as people but as instruments to get what they want. but they hate each other, so there's that lol.

The mutual obsession they have with each other is going to get them both killed. I see no other way this show ends but with Homelander and Butcher just dying in each other's arms and that would actually be close to the comics since in the end Butcher has Hughie kill him because when he said he was killing all the supes he meant it.

I'm actually curious to see how his character ends up because I feel like they're taking him to a much darker territory than your average anti-hero. As I said above I think they are purposely drawing parallels between him and Homelander with their ruthlessness and bloody-mindedness even though they have totally different goals.
