right, is it not on a database? we have a qr code that takes you to a site where you can see vaccinations and dates, it's so much easier to just have that on your phone

Some states have their own databases like the New York Excelsior Pass. but no we dont have a nationwide database because no matter how advanced the US says we are, we're dumb af

I once had to give a Canadian their booster and she was so [understanably] baffled when I just handed her over the card. She showed me what Canadians have and obviously, it made more sense. so we talked about how dumb it is whilst giving her the shot

I think it depends on the city or state?? Idk. I’m in LA and I have mine in my Apple Wallet. I actually can’t remember where I put my paper copy. I should probably figure that out.

Yeah, in EU it's digital with a qr code. What is the point of some paper.

They are. When I got my first vaccine and I saw that all they did was fill out a piece of paper I was like ".....ok then".

Yeah, it's also a reflection of lack of national healthcare I think. Ours in Canada links to our health number which is from the province and eventually the feds. The US system is of course decentralized and prob up to very individual health units.

I volunteered a lot at the vaccination sites during the pandemic, and had to fill out hundreds of these. SO easy to fake. It was wild to me that they ever caught and prosecuted anyone for selling fake cards. I could have walked out with a stack of blank cards every day, there would have been no way for anyone to trace the leak. There were times at the very beginning when a site would be short on cards, and we would just PHOTOCOPY a blank card and fill that out. Just a piece of printer paper. That's what people got as their official vaccine card ( ... )

Yeah we give out vaccination cards in the UK but for situations where actual proof of vaccination status is required you need to generate a QR code on the NHS app which stores your details (or request a printed copy). Relying solely on an easily-replicated piece of paper is asking for trouble.

they ARE, since they're a cheap piece of card stock and either written on or covered with stickers for each dose smh. individual states (not all of them tho smh) keep centralized databases, but there's no national one because the US has shitty healthcare infrastructure
