Really impressed by Bowen Yang, who is not only funny. He handles quite a few heartfelt sections with such ease you hope he starts stacking these rom-coms one after another.

The grammatical error in the first sentence of that second tweet is killing me. Dude just stops mid-thought and puts a period. Sigh. And he has a blue check, too. Shameful.

Anyway, grammar rant over: glad the movie is enjoyable.

he's missing a 'that' in his second sentence too

Canadians don't like that (that) much, so for us the second sentence actually works fine. I can see where it's missing though.

All this to say: he should know better!

No, if he's omitting "that", then he at least needs a comma in its place.

And yes, agree, he should know better. lol

It just made me read "really impressed by Bowen Yang who isn't funny". Correct sentence structure is essential!!

he might have meant it like, "impressed by bowen yang, who shouldn't just be known as a comedic actor."

also, i'm an editor and i toss all my grammar considerations aside when i post on twitter. idgaf!

The best writers and editors I know are the ones who break all the grammatical rules on Twitter. It’s like an extension of writer’s voice - I know whether or not the post is serious by how they treat the sentence or phrase.

But I don’t know if formal grammar will exist for long, though. When I think about what I’ve seen on social media and factor in what my kid learned about writing and grammar in high school, it makes me wonder how many of these conventions will survive in an online society.

It's possible he just accidentally hit '.' instead of ',' and, as a result, the 'He' was automatically capitalized. He still should have read over the tweet before posting it.
