I remember when that author was robinsparkles on tumblr and wrote fic for Andrew Garfield/Jesse Eisenberg (which had a terrible ship name)

I've gone down this rabbit hole and I'm very confident this book was a rewritten rpf fic. the respective Jesse/Andrew characterizations sans the obvious physical changes are still... very similar lmaooo

I don't think so. It's very fanfic-y because the author wrote fanfic and wrote the novel in a similar style. The author was very popular as a fic writer (if you go on tumblr and search "ciimh," you can still find a ton of posts about their fic) so if they had published something as a fic and then changed the names for a novel, people would have noticed. It might have been a fic that was never published and the author decided to publish as a novel instead, but I think it's just a very fanfic-y book.

This bit from the fic's fanlore page always gets me:

There was controversy when some readers mocked the writing of the sex scenes in the fic's later chapters. These reactions may have contributed to Robin's decision to delete the fic.

Yeah, her fic was super popular and it was a major thing that she discovered people were making fun of it and she said she didn't want to write it anymore and then she deleted everything lmao. Tumblr was crazy back then.

this makes perfect sense, the whole time i was reading it i couldn’t get over how fanfictiony the writing is

which is not a knock against fanfiction per se, it just has its own very specific tone and beats which RWRB was sooooo obviously mirroring, and it translated poorly

Lolll, I knew it. I didn't read this one but my gf and I read One Last Stop together and it was cute, but we just kept saying it was the most Tumblr thing we'd ever read. 😂
