I have no idea if I hallucinated this but is there a scene in the original version where the boys turned into donkeys?? I swear to god that part freaked me out so much as a child but I can’t explain why I found it so terrifying

I was also scarred by Sleeping Beauty when Prince Philip turns into an old man because I was haunted by ~the passage of time~

I think it was because the boys are crying and the crying turns into braying and he’s actually watching in terror as they all transform after being “naughty.” The guy doing the voice acting for the redhead kid who he gets *tight with really sold the shit out of that scene. I can still hear his voice.

Yes I felt the fear was psychological for me! Like the idea that you could get turned into a donkey if you are naughty and omg I forgot about the braying and how they *gradually* turn into a donkey like pinnochio getting a tail. Omg literally getting shivers right now lol

Yes, and it is still an incredibly disturbing and sad scene. There is something so sinister about it.

I just rewatched it and damn. The moment where the redhead kid fully transforms into a donkey and he can no longer speak like a human so as a donkey he's desperate.

What people always forget about that scene which is - truly the horror cherry on a terror cake - is that when the Coachman is picking through the little donkey boys and ripping their clothes off, he gets to the one who's apologizing and crying and saying he wants to go home to his mama. The Coachman gets pissed and says "this one still talks!" as he tosses him in with all the other little donkey boys that are still in their clothes and crying that they wanna go home to their mamas.

THAT is what takes that scene to a whole nother level of insane.

But I still love that movie lmao
