It is ridiculous how many people get into open relationships/poly/swinging etc when really speaking they want to fuck around and just have the other person put up with it without doing the same. Like, how you think that's going to end well?

Well polygamy was a thing in the Mormon religion not too long ago lol…but it was always leaning towards in the mens favor before the LDS church abolished it from their teachings…but polygamy in the after-life is still believed and taught lol

This happened to someone I know. Her husband one day was like, "I'm polyamorous!" and she was like, "But I don't want to do that." And he made her life miserable until she agreed to give it a try. But he did not like it when she touched other men. HE just wanted an extra person to play with. Luckily, she dumped his ass.

I see a lot of posts on reddit from people whose partners cheat and then once found out, they give their partner an ultimatum - open relationship or we break up. And people actually go with open relationship, luckily most people tell them that they need to just dump the person and move on but still. And even when cheating isn't involved, usually one partner basically has one foot out the door and they basically want to be able to find their next partner without being labeled a "cheater".

Having been involved in several social circles where many couples boasted about "open relationships," I can confirm that 99% of them were exactly this. "He won't stop cheating on me, so I've just accepted he's going to do it and am playing it off like we're in an established open relationship. Look at us, we ~communicate so well, #couplesgoals!" It's just sad tbh.
