"Just when I think I’ve taken the full measure of what Jeremy Strong can do, time after time he does something to make me think I’ve underestimated him," writes Aaron Sorkin.

Did we discuss how annoyed Matthew McFayden was at having to talk about him?

Macfadyen does have a very British approach to acting that doesn’t require him to marinate in his own wellsprings of emotion and experience. When I bring up The New Yorker’s Jeremy Strong profile, which portrayed the actor as someone who stays inside the bubble of his suffering character while others decompress between takes, it’s the one time in our nearly three-hour conversation that Macfadyen gets visibly irritated. “I find it slightly aggravating because-it makes [the show] about one thing, and it’s an ensemble piece,” he says of the article, noting the costars who play Gerri and Connor. “You think of J. Smith-Cameron and Alan Ruck, who are fucking extraordinary actors. [Strong] is not the main event ( ... )

I like that he made the point that there are other actors on the show who are just as good at playing their characters as Jeremy is at playing Kendall. And I like that he singled out J. Smith-Cameron and Alan Ruck, whom I think get overlooked at times just because their characters aren't as "intense" (Matthew gets overlooked as well).

lmao I love Matthew.
He is the standout to me on Succession.
I was going through a twitter thread the other day that asked what line from any tv show/movie do you think was delivered perfectly, and I swear a quarter of the responses were Wamsgans moments. The true star!

I watched this season late and knowing how annoying Jeremy is honestly took me out of some of his scenes because I was just thinking about whether what he just said was adlibbed and the other actors in the scene had to work around it. And I know everyone loves him but I felt the same about Kieran since he does it too.
