A lot of people look good here but that dress Carla Bruni is wearing does not do her justice. I love a chocolate dress but the gathers and what is going on in the front isn't pretty (which makes the material look cheap).

It's always been traditional to invite models to Cannes for that "glitter" factor. It's also an opportunity for designers to show off some of their less RTW offerings on the red carpet so it's a win/win.
