After 100+ years, Hollywood still can’t make halfway decent wigs

i honestly think it's because studios think it's a "women's" thing and that people won't notice or care. a horrible wig can be so distracting in a movie. if the film ends up making millions though, they're not going to shell out $100k+ in wigs when they can clearly spend around $20k and it works out fine. they also need extra employees for wigs specifically.

I think you’re spot on about movie execs not caring bc it’s a “woman’s thing”. No matter what, we know the majority of people greenlighting and financing big budget movies are old white guys and I’m sure they don’t notice wigs at all. But bad wigs do distract in the worst ways. I would stare at Cersei and Dany’s hairlines for entire scenes instead of paying attention bc they were just SO. SHITTY.

But it’s also baffling bc decent lace front wigs with sideburns, baby hair, etc that need minimal glueing don’t cost thousands of dollars. If they had any WOC (especially Black woken) in their hair dept they would know that😒
