I've only seen her on Life Partners and she was great. I wonder why she never became a bigger star?

Hmm I feel like she doesn’t care about Hollywood that much and gravitates towards tv comedic stuff (single parents is underrated!) rather than A films. I think also, compared to Blake who had a very privileged and charmed upbringing, Leighton had a tough start and started working as a child and presumably supported her family. And didn’t she have to pay money for her brother’s medical costs throughout GG so I think she just took whatever jobs that came for the $ whereas Blake was in the position to be choosy and craft her ~brand. It’s a shame because I actually prefer Leighton in dramas rather than comedies.

I used to be a Leighton stan and I think it's a combo of things. She was a child star with an abusive mom that pushed her into acting so I def think being a star was not necessarily something she wanted. And she's talked a lot about how she is not like Blair at all and she hates the glitzy part of being an actress.

Also I think she was a little burnt out after GG. After it ended she did a ton of rando indies. I tried to watch a bunch of stuff she did and a lot of it was really bad (Life Partners and the one where she was a nanny being the exceptions). And she wasn't doing it for the money, because she's set for life, this is just stuff that interested her. She just chooses a lot of crap I guess, or stuff where she's working with people she likes. She and her husband seem to have the same work philosophy where they made their money and now only work on stuff they find interesting. Too bad her taste is so tragic!

I loved her episode of the Orville. have not checked out her new netflix movie but I'm sure she's good in it even if it's bad. and god a lot of her films have been bad. that one with Ben Barnes, they are both so hot and yet the movie is SO bad

Oh it's been awhile, maybe I wouldn't like the nanny movie now.

She was cute on her ep of Orville. And she was good on Single Parents I just had to stop watching because it was clear they were trying to pair her character and Taran's character and I find him annoying.

I tried hard and failed to get into Single Parents. the writing just didn't hit for me. I LOVED that "Making History" show she had for like, a minute. it was really underrated and funny

Hope she lands some streaming/cable stuff tho

i have a feeling she never wanted to be a bigger star. she likes acting but treats its as a job rather then a career. like for now she is comfortable where she is now and has the luxury to pick the projects she wants to do. its funny bc i feel like blake has the career leighton should have but doesnt need.

I wonder if, besides the other more nuanced reasons listed in the comments, she was screwed by
A. Not being sure if she wanted to fully pursue music
B. Having several contemporaries she looked nearly identical to. Rachel Bilson, Minka Kelly etc.
