Almost 11 years ago, Neil Patrick Harris and his husband, David Burtka, hosted a Halloween Party. At the party, they had an incredibly gross and extremely distasteful fake corpse of Amy Winehouse that was actually a meat platter. Amy had only died just a few months earlier.
This was posted about on ONTD back when it happened, but has recently resurfaced after a tweet from writer Ashley Reese went viral, saying “I cannot believe how many very online people over the age of 25 are just now finding out about Neil Patrick Harris’s disgusting Amy Winehouse cake.” Reese previously mentioned the incident and referenced the original ONTD post in an article for Jezebel in 2018, and has now gone private on Twitter.
NPH released a statement to Entertainment Weekly, saying, "A photo recently resurfaced from a Halloween-themed party my husband and I hosted 11 years ago. It was regrettable then, and it remains regrettable now. Amy Winehouse was a once-in-a-generation talent, and I'm sorry for any hurt this image caused."
This is the first time NPH has acknowledged the incident and apologised, but hey, it only took 11 years.

Shout out to the OP of the original post who sadly isn't getting their flowers for inadvertently making NPH apologise for this over a decade later lmao, this post is for you. I remember seeing this post as a teenager and I've had a pretty foul opinion on him ever since.
