Same. I read the book years ago and saw the movie as soon as it came out. Used to love both. It was only a few years later that I realized, “Whoa. This is actually super messed up…” and I was ashamed of myself.

The book is def gross. And don't forget that "real-time" Henry gets a vasectomy because Clare had so many miscarriages due to the fetuses inheriting Henry's time-travel condition. She's too Catholic to ever get an abortion, so instead she tricks an earlier/younger Henry to have unprotected sex with her and that's how she finally has their daughter Alba (barf).

I also remember Henry going back to visit child!Clare one time and him talking about his wife to her (without child!her knowing it is actually her in the future). Then, child!Clare starts crying, “No, you should be married to me!” Like…um. 😬

Didn't she have sex with past Henry while the current Henry was right next to her in bed? I remember they took that scene out for the movie and changed it to her meeting younger Henry in a parking lot??

And let's not forget that he always arrived naked and child Clare brought him food and her dad's cloths and hid him away in their house

Oh and that he had sex with himself as a teen???

This is a little late but ya, teen him used to time travel and give himself bjs as a teen, she had like 12 miscarriages because the fetuses kept time traveling out of her body, teenager her took 40+ him to a party where he got jealous over her talking to boys. Child her kept him in their basement for days and would bring him food and magazines. So ya, her and younger him having sex while older him slept next to them is normal compared to the rest of the book.
