Ahhh, the good old days when your doctor would give you prescriptions for valium, sleeping pills, and opioids at the same time (and tell you that it was totally fine to drink alcohol with them).

That reminds me of when someone tweeted that about people in the 90s/early 2000s and someone was like 'sweet summer child, we had eating disorders'

I know The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel isn't exactly a documentary, but some of these youths should watch S1 when Miriam had a notebook where she kept track of her daily measurements and went to exercise class because she had to keep her figure "trim" (the 50s euphemism for skinny). And there were plenty of Old Hollywood actresses who were on diet pills, getting plastic surgery, etc.

Plus, fad diets have been a thing forever. Like the cabbage soup diet & the grapefruit for example. They even pushed cigarettes as an appetite suppressant in the 1960s.
On The Partridge Family Susan Dey was eating only carrots & supposedly developed an orange tint.
