So they replaced Alexa Chung with Gigi Hadid on the 'Next in Fashion' Netflix show? Somehow I've completely missed that. Also, I think I thought it got cancelled for whatever reason

Oh wait, it's because it did initially get cancelled, and then suddenly got revived / renewed with Gigi instead of Alexa.

To its credit a lot of fans of the show took their displeasure directly to Netflix (either by canceling their membership and telling Netflix why, or otherwise letting Netflix know they were angry about the cancellation). The only other show I know on Netflix that they allowed to tie up loose ends after a cancellation has been Sense8 and it shows just how important it is to let them know if you're upset, I think.

I see, I see. I thought maybe it was a way for them to let Alexa out of her contract

No, I don't think there was any malice involved. I think that when they initially got cancelled she probably started doing something else and they couldn't get her back in time for shooting this so they got Gigi instead.

I’m kinda eh, I prefer Alexa to Tan and Gigi, but it did feel like it had more heart than whatever Heidi and Tim are up to these days.
