Sally Rooney's critically acclaimed novel "Conversations with Friends" has been adapted for a TV miniseries on Hulu, following the adapation of her novel "Normal People." It's set to come out on May 15

I read this earlier and thought “damn this woman needs PR training.” You don’t have to tell reporters everything you think. (As an unfiltered person, I am glad I am not famous because it would be hard to take my own advice.)
Some of the stuff she said about the author of the novel - it’s not bad, but better left unsaid publicly. Implying the writer of the source novel for the thing you’re promoting is too immature to understand the thing you’re promoting is maybe saying too much. The dismissive bit about the novel writer never coming to set (in the article itself). Etc.
I’m just saying I think it could have been done better as a PR interview.
Perhaps the part where she said actors don't necessarily need to feel comfortable on set??
Sure, it's fine if she found it exciting that the sound guy was seeing her naked while filming a sex scene, and she feels that weirdness helps drive her performance. But other actors don't need that discomfort to, ya know, act. And would like to feel safe on set.
I think the problem is that her mentality is the norm. Many actresses who voice discomfort are met with judgement, difficulty, and given "prudish" commentary.
It becomes harder to say no or speak up until they get some clout in the business or someone stands up for them.
I don't know anything about the project or whatever, but I have zero interest in checking it out if the actors are already making fun of the source material or talking about how bad it is.
(Seriously, to be in a place where you can say whatever you want professionally sounds amazing. I dont know what her situation is but that sounds great.)
It's about what you'd think. She's descended from landed gentry on the paternal side and her maternal grandfather was a real estate developer (born in Iraq) who at the time of his death was supposedly worth 500 million pounds.

Not particularly enticing people to watch the show when one of the leads is like, “yeah, this chick doesn’t know what she’s talking about”
