Ouch, your second sentence is unfortunately too true. It’s that vicious circle too, because journalism is stacked with young women but many of the big names and editors are still white men, even in entertainment. So the women, especially non-white women, have to fight, be more inventive and go harder (but not too hard!) to prove themselves or get the story (which lbr the men are often just handed). But since they’re not the big names their assignments will often be the younger, less established, female celebs…

Again, it’s just men rigging the system so that they keep the power.

But yeah, any entertainment journalist who goes genuinely hard with an important client of an agency with a stable of A-list celebs better have a secure job with a large and influential publication, as well as being on the right side of public opinion. Or have such a strong story that the celeb has no option but to front up to preserve their reputation.

That’s why I kind of laugh sometimes when people say ‘so and so big name celebrity is so nice’ like yeah, they can afford to be because they pay their reps/PR to be the assholes.
