After the latest of several lawsuits filed against him for alleged plagiarism, Ed Sheeran says that he now films every recording session. In an interview, he said:

“Now I just film everything, everything is on film. We’ve had claims come through on the songs and we go, ‘Well here’s the footage and you watch. You’ll see there’s nothing there.'”

His legal troubles have included:
  • Sued by Matt Cardle for allegedly copying Cardle's song "Amazing" for the song "Photograph." Sheeran settled out of court.
  • Sued by Kandi Burruss, Tameka Cottle, and Kevin Briggs for allegedly copying "No Scrubs" for "Shape of You." This was also settled out of court.
  • Sued by Sean Cary and Beau Golden for allegedly copying their song "When I Found You" for "The Rest of Our Life." Also settled out of court.
  • Sued by Sami Switch for allegedly copying Switch's song "Oh Why" for "Shape of You." A judge ruled in favor of Sheeran.
  • Currently being sued by Marvin Gaye's estate for allegedly copying "Let's Get It On" for "Thinking Out Loud."
