• AmbuLAnce star Jake Gyllenhaal hosts SNL for the second time tonight. He first hosted back in January 2007, but he’s had a handful of cameos since then. He appeared on a Weekend Update segment in Elton John’s April 2011 episode, and also appeared during one of John Mulaney's musical sketches in his February 2020 episode.
• Camila Cabello has appeared on the show once before. She was the musical guest for David Harbour's October 2019 episode.

• Former SNL cast member Tina Fey and actor/musician Josh Groban were spotted outside 30 Rock earlier this week, apparently filming something for SNL. Fey has already appeared on the show twice this season, first during Paul Rudd's aborted Christmas episode and then about a month ago during John Mulaney's episode.

• SNL has been revisiting sketches from Jake's first hosting stint. "Laser Cats" sketches were an yearly tradition for cast members Bill Hader and Andy Samberg. Laser Cats 2 is a cinematic masterpiece, I won't hear anything different.

• "Deep House Dish" were recurring sketches in the early 2000s that parodied club culture. Kenan Thompson played a character named DJ Dynasty Handbag, and Andy Samberg's T'Shane character replaced Rachel Dratch's Tiara once Dratch left the show. In this sketch Gyllenhaal partners up with Amy Poehler to play ditzy club artists with a charity single supporting "global warnings"
