You're right about how Pattinson was just using his own technique before a specific take, not method acting, but Pattinson was not told off by anyone. Dafoe saw what Rob was doing and said to the director, "I don't want him to throw up on me," and that was the end of it. There was no drama.

There's video on YT of Willem saying he's the one who vomited and his mouth was full of sea creatures like periwinkles at the time, for the scene. There were a lot of bodily functions going on in that film and Pattiinson has never uttered a word of complaint about any actors or directors he's worked with. In fact, Robert Eggers said he sprayed Pattinson in the face with water from a fire house five times in a row, in 30 degree weather and Pattinson never complained, only saying, "if you need to do it again, I'm ready."

Willem also rented a fisherman's shack near the beach to live in while they were filming to remain isolated, while Pattinson lived in a B&B with the director and cinematography and played piano in the lounge after work, which the other guests found very entertaining, according to the owner of the B&B who talked about it after the production wrapped.

Ah, okay. I misunderstood then. I didn't know about the other stuff either. That piano story is really sweet.

Never be afraid to factcheck! I love him and I understand why everyone loves working with him.
