"You got big" / "you've gained weight" / "look at your belly" is basically how the aunties greet you when they come to the US and I fucking hate it so much!! I can totally empathize and I'm sorry it happened to you. I absolutely do not know what the hell compels people to do that, I mean I never look at someone and promptly think to point out every physical difference since I saw them last??

I also think it's funny (it's not) how these people are also the type to cry and be loud if anyone ever "attacked" them in that way. I remember my mom ranting and ranting about an in-law that said she'd gained weight but she's been telling me to lose weight since I was in elementary school and looking back I wasn't the monster she made me feel like.

I used to hate shopping with my mom because after we parked, nearly every time, we'd spend five to ten minutes just sitting in the car and if any woman walked by she'd ask me if she was bigger than them. I said no every time, whether it was the truth or not. I felt bad for the women who had absolutely no idea they were being judged and I felt bad for my mom (part of why I was never really honest! The days I was mad at her were when I was honest). It's twisted.

I hope you're doing better now and feeling good about yourself. <3
