I feel like Andrew is working out his own issues with faith through all these religious movies he keeps picking, or maybe that’s just me projecting

I was gonna say, this, Hacksaw Ridge, Silence... Tammy Faye and Angels in America too I guess

Ohh is that so? He at first doesn’t strike me as someone so deeply religious or that concerned. I didn’t even know he had previous works that was anything religious. If anything, a new tongue-in-cheek satirical movie like Saved! would make sense and a fun project for him

Do we know something anything about his religion?

No. We don't.
Someone is projecting on to him and, this being the internet, it will mutate into "fact" and by the end if Spring, we'll have certain commenters screaming about how they're sick of Garfield and his Jesus agenda.

I heard from a bike fiend that he's White Jesus.

Bonus ONTD fuckery points will be awarded to commenters who loop Garfield into Mel Gibson's religious and racist nuttery because they worked together.

That’s probably why I included could be me projecting since that’s something I’ve been doing since my mom died and I want to believe in something after death, didn’t mean it as a personal attack on him, I’m a fan

i get where you're coming from bb. besides, based on his interviews and stuff, he does seem to pick roles based very deeply on personal connections - and if not, he tends to make personal connections through filming/becoming the character. in any case, it is interesting he picks so many roles in this realm

Lead roles. He's offered these lead roles and why wouldn't he take them?
That's the only god he's investigating here.

Don't know if this answers your curiousity, but he did an interview and they talked about religion a bit. https://believermag.com/an-interview-with-andrew-garfield/

Here's the part about religion.

BLVR: You’re presently shooting Under the Banner of Heaven, and you’re in a role that relates to religion, another of the many roles you’ve taken that relate to that topic. What are the different facets of organized religion that you’ve been able to look at over the years ( ... )

I am sure this would finally allow me to finish hit three hours on my hypothetical "just scenes of Andrew Garfield praying" super-cut. There are much older actors with far, far larger filmographies where I wouldn't be able to cut together five minutes of them praying.

And looking at his filmography since he filmed Silence - there isn't a lot of it and that little that is has very few roles/movies that aren't "spiritually themed" and a substantial number are Christianity related. Compare his filmography to those of his contemporaries and it's obvious that you're not projecting.
