I've been listening to the new Father John Misty single... this track sounds a lot like Harry Nilsson's "Everybody's Talkin'", and I'm not mad about it!

Just put on the new Black Keys song - pretty basic, but still catchy. I think it'd be hard for them to top a lot of their earlier stuff.

I was not aware of that tbh. i'm not aware of their popularity (or not).
I bought delta kream because of the cover art, by memphis photographer William Eggleston and because people I know played on it, but they butchered the songs of the musicians I grew up listening to and surrounded by in the MS delta. I get they were ~paying homage~ but shit, go listen to real blues music.

I liked a few of their songs but I always thought they sounded like black man’s blues/rock which tbf all blues-rock bands take their inspiration from. BUT most of those bands at least put their own spin and markers on things whereas I thought BK sounded good but generic at times.

their last album was just covers and it is such a waste of space. the originals are so much better. some things are best left alone, though I guess I do appreciate that the music is getting a new audience, maybe? idk conflicted bc I grew up here. direct covers are just so lazy sometimes, and I thought these were.
