The promos today have a lot of sad Obi energy lol, idk how they're going to make this series fun.

"Infinite sadness" 🤣.

I'd like this show to have some weight though. I don't need Marvel's quippy sense of humor.

I need them to explore why the Jedi is such a failure and why they are a big part of Anakin's fall into the dark side.

Well I can assure you that's not going to happen, lol. IMO Anakin fell because he wanted everything, he could have left the Jedi & been happy, but instead he wanted to be a Jedi with attachment and that's a no-go. Also possibly obvious: Palpatine.

I'm not defending Anakin. He has issues of his own.

But the Jedi took him from his mother as a kid, had no problem leaving her as a slave for the rest of her life.
And when he sensed that she was in danger and wanted to save her, they told him to move on and not think about it... I mean, that's heartless.

But you are right. They won't explore this at all.

Definitely! But after they told him to not save her, he went and.... murdered everyone including children. That's not on the Jedi. It's a great parallel with Luke, who left as soon as he sensed Leia/Han in trouble, and successfully saved them, and definitely murdered no children along the way. Same bad Jedi advise, different results.

Yeah, that's a great parallel.

It helps that Luke wasn't raised by the Jedi. And didn't have an evil guy mentoring him from the sideline.

Totally. Also that Luke wasn't raised a slave for 10 years.... but not having the evil mentor politician gassing him up helped a lot.

(For clarity, I don't think Anakin became evil because he was a slave, but it definitely would have given him trauma that it doesn't seem like the Jedi were willing/able to address.)

I mean....every Jedi but Qui-Gon thought that was a going to be a major problem lmao.

They didn't want to take him because he was full of fear.
Like... no shit, Sherlock. You just took him from his mother to a completely new place and left her as a slave. Not to mention his mentor dies.
What is he supposed to feel? Joy? Nothing?

I really feel bad for him in the first movie.

I mean...yes kids actually can feel a variety of feelings that would make them either not great or wonderful candidates for jedi boarding school (and the debate on his fitness happens before Qui-Gon dies because he argues with the whole council about him and declares that even if they won't accept him, Qui-Gon's going to train him anyway). If all little anakin was feeling was fear, which is quite literally a dark side trigger, no that was not great. I genuinely think Qui-Gon did him a disservice.
