i said it in my comment below, but the musical that was made with the permission of the estate literally takes place in 1992 so they don't have to address the 1993 court case and uses the song "they don't really care about us" to lambast the media. the show even kicked out a variety reporter who asked the cast questions about the abuse.
they make a very big deal that he's rehearsing for that specific 1992 tour and still use a handful of songs from that History album, just so they could shove in a few more recognizable songs and use them to paint the media as his enemy without touching the 1993 court cast.
It seems to have been a go-to maneuver; Jackson tells his company that he wants to donate $100 million in tour profits to charity by the end of 1993, the same year allegations first surfaced against him of child sexual abuse."
sooooooo it's going to be a puff piece that pretends he wasn't a pedo

according to the variety review (https://variety.com/2022/legit/reviews/mj-review-michael-jackson-broadway-musical-1235168798/) this is how it's used: "Later, at a press conference filled with what the script calls “aggressive reporters,” Jackson defiantly sings “They Don’t Really Care About Us,” drowning out personal questions with broad calls for social justice.
