I have not seen this show but I wanna talk about Glass for a minute since this is a Shyamalan post and the only place where I can talk about it lmao I put off watching that movie for literal years because everyone said it was so horrible and unwatchable. He has put out some genuine irredeemable garbage at points so I kinda took people's word for it and skipped the movie.

Well, finally watched it last month and maybe I'm going insane but I feel like 90% of the hate on that film was an anti-Shyamalan circle jerk and/or people being angry that it isn't an action packed Marvel-style epic? It's a CRAZY movie, really surreal and quirky, lots of long, slow scenes of people talking, no big showdown burning down the city but I still enjoyed it and found it, at worse, maybe a 7/10 movie vs the 1/10 most Reddit bros were giving it.

Only thing I strongly disliked was Bruce Willis's performance cuz holy hell, he has gotten so fucking lazy as an actor.

Yeah I agree, I’d give it a 6 or a 7 but it’s not terrible at all

Me too, he was pretty much the only reason why I stuck around with Animal Kingdom for so long even though he wasn’t there all the time lol

I think people were angry about certain "twists" at the end, specifically [Spoiler (click to open)]our 3 mains dying and especially David's death not being some huge heroic sacrifice or anything. But IDK I liked it, I thought it was a good movie.

I also think part of the issue is that the meme of Shyamalan being a bad director is so prevalent, that people now can only swing between two extremes with his work. It's either shock and amazement and "wow, he's back to unbreakable/the sixth sense quality" or "ugh this is the worst movie ever". Nothing he does will be seen as mediocre, even if that's all it is.
