"For this special shot as a close, intimate, immediate, raw half-hour of comedy, though, Ansari never skirts anywhere close to vulnerability or risk." @kvanaren writes on Aziz Ansari’s new special, "Nightclub Comedian" https://t.co/nrSfoT9IGF

Have empathy for Aaron Rodgers and Nicki Minaj? How about those anti-vax assholes (and victim blamer/harasser in Nikki’s case) try having some empathy for others.

This sounds like some kind of crap he’s only spewing so we’ll “have some empathy” for him because his whole persona as a “woke” “ally” was revealed as bullshit and he’s really someone who doesn’t listen when a woman says no.

Some of the men in my life really showed their true colours when Aziz’s scandal hit. “Oh so we should never try to initiate anything?” That’s not the issue and we all know it. It’s one thing to move too quickly, stop when asked, and apologize. It’s something else entirely to ignore being told no.

Also, the idea that empathy is something people are owed and that each of us must give in all circumstances is very troubling to me.

Aziz, Louis CK... it was really just "another one bites the dust" playing on a loop for a long while

he's as image-obsessed as his park and rec character. seems like he's struggling to accept he's not gonna be able to reach that master of none success he had when the allegations came out, or maybe this is just a rebrand for him and netflix to test the waters to see if people are open to it.

i watched this and thought it was pretty boring. he didn't say anything new. half of it was about vaccines/covid and he didn't have a new take on any of it. even his take on switching to a flip phone feels outdated - like obviously people are still too attached to their phones but he literally says he got off social media like 8 years ago.

idk, it just wasn't fresh. i feel like his energy used to be the best part of his stand-up and he's scaled that way back. he's also fallen into the comedian trap where he used to be funny when he was an outsider to celeb culture/felt relatable and he doesn't anymore so it doesn't work.

also tbf i thought his bit about aaron rodgers was the funniest part. the majority of it wasn't that much "have empathy". it was mostly like "imagine the quarterback of your high school football team coming to their own conclusion about science... he plays a sport where he gets hit in the head every day, did you expect him to be Fauci?"

im so sick and tired of bullshit like this. why are people always asking for empathy towards selfish assholes. the accommodations only ever go one way. cause the assholes never say "hey maybe we should have empathy. maybe we should stop the divisiveness" nah. it's always the people who do the right thing that have to bend over backwards.

keep that nonsense

Fucking exactly. My mom tells me her siblings and their kids love me but don’t like me, because I’m not nice about my “views.” Which are basically, 1. Don’t be a fucking racist, and 2. You not getting the COVID vaccine is contributing to people dying.

But I’m the mean/unempathetic one lol bye
