Not a mom so I have no clue and I'm not saying it's what's causing her problems (none of my business) but I'm curious if the obsession to lose the baby weight as fast as possible could be causing supply issues with breast milk?

A lot of different things can affect milk supply, but often if supplements and other techniques aren't working it's often a fundamental issue with either hormones or the literal amount of milk-producing tissue you have from birth. Some people just aren't built to exclusively breastfeed and people rarely talk about it.

breastfeeding actually helps to lose weight after pregnancy

Not true, for some women, breastfeeding makes lose weight even harder because your body holds onto the fat.

true, but milk is mostly fat that gets expelled when you pump or feed. I think it's because of the amount of energy it takes your body to produce milk and expel it, reformulate it based on babies saliva, etc. Your body does a lot of work.

obviously we can't know what's going on in her particular scenario but idk why people are acting like this is outside the realm of possibility? Women, and celebrities in particular, are supposed to look like they've never been pregnant as soon as they walk out of the hospital, and restricting calories can absolutely have an affect on milk supply.

I think it’s more that people are uncomfortable with the implication that Munn has an “obsession with losing weight” and is causing her own supply issues. It feels very mom shamey.

sorry to reply so late, but I totally see why that would gross people out. I read the comment more as "women are both expected to drop weight at a ridiculous pace after giving birth while producing gallons of milk at the same time" rather than "look at this vain woman starving her baby so she can lose weight", but the latter is a totally valid reading.

This. Super fair question and it absolutely can play a part. Not saying that’s the case here, my take is she’s doing all this supplements, etc she’s prob making sure she’s eating well. But I know a lot of IG moms who didn’t eat at all postpartum.

Also not a mum so I had no idea and Googled. According to Johns Hopkins:

"Trying to lose weight too soon after childbirth can also jeopardize your milk production. Wait at least two months for your milk supply to be firmly established before actively trying to lose weight. Aim for gradual weight loss - no more than 4-5 pounds a month - because drastically cutting calories or rapidly losing weight can impact your milk supply."

Exactly! Thank you, the butt hurt comments - Jesus it’s a fair question. Even if it doesn’t apply to Olivia.
